Moab is basically Utah’s adventure base camp, simple as that.

WHERE

Moab is a 3 hour 45 minute drive from Salt Lake City, 5 hours and 20 minutes from Denver or 6 hours from Las Vegas. Just south of Interstate 70, and just west of the Colorado state line.

WHY:

Red Fox Ambassador Lina Dzekciorius Bailey sums it up well.

“I would say Moab never disappoints, offering new treasures to explore every time we visit — I’m pretty sure we will never say we’ve seen it all. Bring your sunscreen and plenty of water…”

For truly colossal adventure, one simply needs to head to Moab in Utah’s Colorado Plateau. Visually stunning, the area offers amazing hiking, biking, climbing, jeeping, dual-sport motorcycling, camping and whitewater rafting all within a stone’s throw of welcoming and small downtown Moab.

Both the Green River and Colorado River run through the area, offering legendary kayaking, rafting and canoeing opportunities.

Rock climbers are drawn to the big walls around Moab, and also because they want to climb incredible towers and other unique rock formations. The area offers some of the world’s most famous routes, in spots like Wall Street, Indian Creek and Fisher Towers. Meanwhile canyon folks descend on the region to savor the challenge of hiking rugged, narrow canyons.

Slacklining/highlining are popular here, and BASE jumping is legal in many locations.

Both Arches and Canyonlands National Parks are nearby, making Moab truly a mecca of tremendous exploration and discovery. In addition, there are thousands of square miles of BLM and national forest lands surrounding Moab. It’s one giant playground.

As for accommodation besides the obvious — camping — there are many small motels, fancy resorts, and everything in between to choose from.

Bottom line? If you haven’t been to Moab yet, you are really missing out!
